The new 2019 Insight is a hybrid worthy of praise. It boasts a new, modern exterior design, incredible fuel economy, and a wider, roomier interior. Available in three trims, each with a specific set of standard features, the 2019 Honda Insight is going to be a fierce competitor in the hybrid sedan vehicle class.
LX Trim
This and the uplevel trims are powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine paired with a lithium-ion powered electric motor for a total output of 151 horsepower. There's a new motor-generator that recharges the battery and also provides the propulsion to the front wheels. An advanced lock-up clutch feature connects the engine to the drive axles for an extra bit of power. Standard features on the base LX trim include:

- • 6 speaker audio system with Bluetooth and smartphone app integration
The front console is easy to navigate, with clearly marked icons for messages, system updates, and climate control. A rearview camera is standard, and the Honda Sensing Suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning is also standard on the base trim. Because the battery pack is located beneath the rear seats, the cargo area is larger than most compact or mid-size sedans. Honda promises around 55 mpg average in the city.*
EX Trim
This trim comes with the features mentioned above but adds on an enhanced driver information display and a more complex set of navigational features. Keyless entry is standard on this trim, and the rear seatback has a split folding feature. Specifically, the EX trim comes with the following upgrades:
- • An 8-inch screen display
- • Satellite radio
- • Two additional speakers for the sound system
- • A passenger-side rear-facing camera
The EX trim is priced nominally above the LX, and it offers a bit more in terms of high-tech gizmos. The screen display is designed to offer ease of control when using the stereo or vehicle performance monitors. The powertrain is the same as on the base trim, and fuel efficiency is also the same because the EX weighs about the same as the LX.
Touring Trim
The top-line Touring trim comes with all of the features of the EX but adds on a few extra goodies. The price bump is nominal. For just a few extra dollars, buyers of the Touring trim will enjoy:
