Honda is a brand that has a stellar reputation with drivers, so you understandably have already decided that this is the brand that you want to focus your attention on as you search for a new vehicle. If you are in the market for a smaller car, you may be debating between the 2019 Honda Fit and the 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback. The Fit is included in the supermini vehicle class, and it is now in its third generation. The Civic is a compact car that has evolved dramatically since its original release in 1972. Both of these vehicles provide you with exceptional value, but there are several differences to pay attention to if you want to make an informed automotive buying decision.

Style

The 2019 Honda Fit is notably smaller than the 2018 Civic Hatchback, but the Fit is available with your choice of two or four doors with a hatchback-style liftgate in the rear. To ensure ample passenger space in the rear row, the roofline has only a slight curve as it reaches the rear of the vehicle. Both the Fit and the Civic have a similar front-end design with almost identical grilles and headlights. However, the Fit’s hood slopes more sharply downward toward the front and is shorter in length. The Civic Hatchback has a sportier design with a profile that is almost akin to a fastback. The 2018 Civic Hatchback is only available in a two-door design. While it can accommodate four to five passengers, the roofline angles sharply downward to create a more aerodynamic look. While these two smaller cars have different exterior looks, you may find that one is more appealing to your sense of style than the other.

Performance

The Fit is equipped with an inline 4-cylinder engine that offers 130 horsepower at the base level. The Civic Hatchback’s base engine is also an inline 4-cylinder design that generates 158 horsepower. Variations are available for both vehicles at higher trim levels. Both the Fit and the Civic Hatchback are equipped with a drive-by-wire throttle system, anti-lock brakes, an electric parking brake, Eco Assist, hill start assist, an automatic transmission and other features.

Features

The features loaded into the Fit and the Civic Hatchback become increasingly refined as you edge up from the lower to higher trim levels. Both of these smaller Honda vehicles are well-appointed. In fact, some of the common features that you will find across most trims for both of these vehicles include a 5-inch LCD touchscreen or larger, Bluetooth connectivity, radio data systems, speed-sensitive volume control, power windows, power door locks, numerous advanced safety features and more.

If you have decided to take home a smaller Honda soon, it makes sense to get behind the wheel of the Fit and to compare it against the Civic Hatchback. While these two vehicles are seemingly similar in size, they offer a different experience on the road that you should experience first-hand. Stop by the dealership soon to test drive both vehicles.
