Performance
The 2018 Honda Odyssey gets a new engine. It's still a V6, but it now produces a total of 280 horsepower. The standard transmission is nine-speed automatic, but the uplevel trims can be purchased with a 10-speed system. You'll appreciate the improvement in acceleration as well. In early testing, the vehicle went from zero to 60 mph in just under seven seconds, perhaps the quickest time in its segment. The rear suspension has also been improved, and the new arrangement opens up even more cargo space while at the same time smoothing out the ride.
Interior
The interior of the new 2018 Honda Odyssey will surprise you if you're familiar with older versions of this model. The Magic Slide seats allow you to slide the second row forward as before, but now you can slide the outer seats sideways into one of five different locking positions if the middle seat in the second row is removed. Heated and ventilated front seats are either standard or optional depending on trim level. The interior is very quiet thanks to new sound-dampening materials underneath the floor, in the fenders, and the engine compartment. The front and side glass is also thicker, and this helps quiet the cabin even more.
Features
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is equipped with a nice stereo system, easy-to-use screen display, and a new passenger-viewing camera. You can watch the kids as they play in the back seat, and the system even has a night-vision, infrared setup to make it easy to view the rear seating area at night. There's also a new communications system that allows the you to communicate with the rear passengers through the stereo speaker system. All you do is speak through the Bluetooth microphone and broadcast your voice through this nifty new intercom system. You can also control the rear-zone air conditioning and rear entertainment system with the included smartphone apps. Every trim comes with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety
Every 2018 Honda Odyssey comes with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, and airbags in the front, front-side, and rear. The latter are full-length side-curtain bags. Blind-spot monitoring and front collision mitigation are standard on all but the base trim. The Honda Sensing feature package includes lane-keeping assist and road departure mitigation.
