Interior
Since this is a crossover that serves families, every cube counts. While the two SUVs have the same size wheelbase, the Honda CR-V, which is wider and taller, manages to provide more space. CR-V passenger volume is rated at 105.9, and its cargo hold is rated at 39.2 cubic feet. The Toyota is rated at 101.9 cu.ft. for passengers and 38.4 cu.ft. for cargo. Back row passengers will notice the difference between 37.2 inches of legroom in the RAV4 and 40.4 inches in the CR-V. For easy entry, it’s hard to beat the CR-V doors. They open almost 90 degrees. Parents will appreciate the room when they need to install or remove a carseat. Both SUVs have a standard rearview camera system, but only Honda’s has three views to you more. Both have a dash screen, but only Honda is offering the benefits of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These two systems let you access dozens of apps and use your phone’s dedicated voice command system. Other modern technologies include Honda’s Proximity Key, four USB ports, and a dual-zone programmable thermostat.
Safety
Safety is essential for any vehicle, especially one serving families. Both are offering a long list of crash systems. Only Honda is offering a road departure mitigation system. This feature will reduce the car’s speed and assist with steering to try and correct the car’s path. Both vehicles offer a lane departure warning with a lane assist. An automatic braking system strengthens the effectiveness of a forward collision warning. With Honda, you can choose between LaneWatch, a camera-based blind system, and a radar-based blind zone system with a rear cross-traffic alert.
