The 2018 Honda CR-V is a compact crossover SUV that's available in 10 exterior colors. Some of the options under the hood include the i-VTEC engine and a small turbocharged engine. The 2018 Ford Escape is a small crossover SUV that offers the Duratec and EcoBoost engines. Powertrain
Combustion in the 2018 Honda CR-V's 2.4 L i-VTEC engine is done through a naturally aspirated induction system. This I-4 engine yields up to 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Having the same type of induction mechanism, the Ford Escape's 2.5 L Duratec engine can't generate more than 168 and 170 lb-ft of torque. The rest of the CR-V models are powered by a 1.5 L engine that has a single-scroll turbocharger. This compact engine whips out a maximum of 190 hp at 5,600 RPM. When it revolves at only 2,000 RPM, the turbo engine achieves a peak torque rating of 179 lb-ft. The Ford Escape's 1.5 L EcoBoost turbo engine has a net output of just under 180 hp. Nevertheless, the EcoBoost engine matches the torque rating of the CR-V's turbo engine.
Handling
Regardless of traffic patterns, the Eco Assist technology keeps the 2018 Honda CR-V rolling in an efficient way. This signature feature automatically adjusts some of the mechanical parameters under the hood in order to conserve fuel. Every CR-V could be fitted with the Real-Time AWD that uniformly distributes torque in the front and rear wheels. The Intelligent Control System precisely determines how much torque should be delivered to each axle based on road conditions. The Ford Escape's Intelligent 4WD offers good traction, but the Real-Time AWD offers even better handling. Hunting for gears in the CR-V isn't a challenge thanks to the CVT that has the Sport Mode. This cutting-edge transmission creates an array of gear combinations that can't be matched by the six-speed automatic transmission in the Escape.
Safety
If a front crash is imminent, the 2018 Honda CR-V will be promptly stopped by the Collision Mitigation Braking. The 2018 Ford Escape might avoid a forward crash when the Brake Support comes on. The Low-Speed Follow technology gives this Honda an overall advantage in cruise control. Whether you're drowsy or simply distracted, the CR-V will be steered back into the appropriate lane by the Lane Keeping Assist. Both vehicles have sensors that monitor the blind zones of the driver. When equipped with the Road Departure Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning, the CR-V is the clear winner in active safety.
