“ I see reviews here are a bit mixed. But I can only go by my experience. right before Christmas break 2019, my son calls from college there in Fredericksburg (UMW) and says, "Dad, my brakes are suddenly not working very good. I don't feel good about driving this car." Now, it's 6 pm and I'm thinking, "How the heck am I going to get his car into a shop and get it fixed at this time of night, so he has it ready to come home for the holidays three days later?" Well, I saw that Pohanka Honda was just about five miles from campus and called right away. "Brad," the service manager picked up the line and immediately became my friendly, helpful point of contact the whole way through. He hooked me up immediately with a local towing service that got to my son's car by 6:45 that night and got it right to the dealership service area (which stays open until 10:30 at night -- very convenient!) It turned out to be a good move, because Brad said the brake fluid was leaking badly and the car should not be driven. We got that fixed -- along with the car's annual inspection and regular oil/tire rotation/maintenance check -- with a day to spare before my son needed to leave for Christmas break (and that's even with a day delay to bring in the needed brake parts!) While it was a costly repair (but I don't know how much more it would be than anywhere else) and it would have been nice to be able to apply the inspection charge to the repair, life is about trade-offs. My main objective was to get the car fixed and safe in time for my son's break, and Brad made sure that happened. (He also arranged for a free shuttle pickup for my son when the car was ready for pickup.) ”

“ I just wanted to spread word that I have never received the high quality of genuine customer care in a dealership than at Pohanka Honda! Wes at the front desk (Service Advisor) really went above and beyond what I could have ever expected to make sure I was never in the dark in everything that was going on in my vehicle. I went in for a diagnostic check, as I was hearing hum from my front end after being in an accident, and even after having some repairs done elsewhere. We found out there was a wheel bearing needing to be replaced that was causing the issue. There were a few other maintenance items that were brought to my attention, and Wes was honest about everything, making sure he answered all of my questions, and treated me like he truly cared, rather than a typical shop mechanic trying to get a quick sale from someone not well versed in auto repair. So for that, I want to thank you! For the complimentary shuttle rides I also want to thank Derek and Kyle for your service! It awesome that the rides were included while my vehicle was out, but I truly appreciate the great conversation and safe driving you provided when I needed it. “ Positive experience overall with Matt Aldaresi as my salesperson. He was very friendly, courteous, and not pushy or aggressive in trying to get my business. He spent plenty of time with me on the phone before I decided to make the drive to this dealership since it's out of my way. Very knowledgeable about the car I decided to buy, spent a good deal of time showing me how to use the console, and gave me ample test drive time to really see how to car would operate in certain situations. I got the price I expected given how much I planned to put down, so there weren't any unexpected surprises. The only thing I didn't care for too much was the confusion surrounding the three maintenance plans the Finance Department shows you before you find out what your monthly payment will be. The Finance person was great and I understand that she's simply following standard protocol; however, I didn't care for it. It reminded me of a blackjack dealer in Vegas quickly shuffling cards and playing a shell game. After you've been there for 5 hours and signed 100 forms, you're strategically presented with three maintenance plans without a bottom line explanation as to why. After listening to all three of these choices, then you're shown a new sheet that now suddenly shows that your payment plan will be based on which maintenance plan you choose. I think this should all be explained from the very beginning BEFORE the shell game begins. It felt designed to confuse and manipulate you into getting the most expensive package of all so you never have to worry about a thing. Up until the payment plan figures were presented, I had no idea why she was spending this exorbitant amount of time going over things like scotch guarding the seats and fixing scratches on the rims in the middle of transferring titles and contacting the DMV. I'm sure this is how Pohanka makes some extra money, but it would be better if you were told up front, "Let me show you our maintenance plans so you know how much your monthly payment will be." Interestingly enough, in the ENTIRE packet of very meticulously organized paperwork provided to me, nowhere in there was the sheet showing these payment plan prices. I'm guessing this means they don't want you to know exactly how these figures are determined. Again, very good experience but I'll remember this next time I buy a car from any dealer. ”
